Hanoi, 16 June 2024 - VinBrain Joint Stock Company, a pioneering technology startup developing AI-powered applications backed by Vingroup, has officially marked its 5th anniversary with many remarkable achievements. By 2024, the company has secured commercial contracts in five markets, including the United States, India, Myanmar, Australia, and Vietnam. With a focus on utilizing advanced AI technology in healthcare applications, over the past five years, VinBrain has collaborated with hospitals to build a massive dataset of up to 4.26 million images, diversified from Asia, Europe, and the Americas to train AI. This is a critical foundation that enables VinBrain to create high-quality products and services meeting international standards.
Specifically, DrAid™, developed by VinBrain, can significantly support clinical diagnostic methods by processing various types of medical images, including X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs. The AI models automatically delineate and detect up to 95 types of abnormalities in under 30 seconds per case with over 90% sensitivity and accuracy.
DrAid™ model has been developed according to three strategic directions.
DrAid™ is developed along three strategic directions: Comprehensive screening for detecting diseases in the lungs, heart, mediastinum, bones, and spine through chest X-rays; Diagnosis and treatment of cancers such as liver and rectal cancer through CT and MRI scans; Addressing century-old diseases like Tuberculosis (TB) and Thalassemia. Accordingly, DrAid™ for TB Screening is the only software chosen by the Global Fund to screen 1 million Vietnamese in the National Tuberculosis Control Program in 2024. Additionally, VinBrain is the first entity in Vietnam and Southeast Asia to receive FDA clearance (USA) for DrAid™ CXR Screening - pneumothorax on September 2, 2022. Mr. Steven Truong, Founder and CEO of VinBrain, shared: "From this result, compared to companies in the same industry in countries like South Korea, India, or Israel, VinBrain has demonstrated its superiority with a development speed at least 3-5 times faster."
Currently, VinBrain and the DrAid™ platform are being deployed in over 182 hospitals globally, including leading hospitals in Vietnam such as the 108 Military Central Hospital, Hue Central Hospital, National Lung Hospital, Hai Phong Lung Hospital, and the University Medical Center - Ho Chi Minh City, serving over 2,000 doctors and more than 2 million patients.
Simultaneously, following the model of building international-standard AI for healthcare using NVIDIA's DGX A100 supercomputers, in November 2023, the company launched the groundbreaking DrAid™ Enterprise Data Solution in Chicago (USA). This software stores, analyzes, searches, and manages medical data based on big data, generative AI, and computer vision, marking a milestone in realizing the vision of building an intelligent healthcare system.
VinBrain's platform utilizes AI to store, connect, filter, and standardize medical data repositories from various operating systems such as HIS, RIS, and PACS. The Data Lake infrastructure in DrAid™ enables multi-level data interconnection between departments or centers within a healthcare unit and between healthcare units. The Data Lake also connects upper and lower-level facilities, ensuring seamless and efficient medical care for patients regardless of their location.
Until now, DrAid™ possesses the most extensive AI models in Vietnam, not only supporting disease diagnosis through various common medical imaging types but also serving the comprehensive management of patients' medical data, including past, present, and future trend predictions. Some breakthrough features, such as intelligent medical record analysis and speech-to-text conversion, impressively help doctors generate medical reports quickly in 40-60 seconds instead of 4-5 minutes.
The strategic cooperation agreement signing ceremony on May 18 with the 108 Military Central Hospital is a significant milestone affirming the role of efficient AI-based medical data management. Sharing at the signing ceremony, Major General Prof. Dr. Le Huu Song - Director of 108 Military Central Hospital, stated: "We are very busy with the daily demands of clinical care, making it challenging to dedicate time to research new technologies. Therefore, collaboration between both parties can facilitate the development of immediately applicable technological solutions for the hospital.”
On May 18th, VinBrain officially signed a strategic partnership with 108 Military Central Hospital to deploy an effective AI-based medical data management technology.
Using AI to manage the healthcare system and build lifetime medical data infrastructure is a common trend, enhancing the efficiency of healthcare service delivery in general and precision medicine in particular. "In addition to entering the US and Indian markets, VinBrain will expand business cooperation in Asian countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia, which have demographic factors and healthcare environments similar to Vietnam. We aim to develop successfully and bring profits from abroad to support the domestic healthcare sector," Mr. Steven Truong commented on the company's next five-year strategy.
On May 19, 2024, VinBrain was the only tech startup named in the Top 10 exemplary collectives at "Glory Vietnam 2024”. The company is the sole representative of Vietnam to win the Gold Prize twice at the ASEAN Digital Awards in three years for AI solutions in healthcare and achieved 3/3 Sao Khue Awards 2024 in its first participation. VinBrain is also one of the first Southeast Asian companies to successfully commercialize AI healthcare platforms in the United States and has submitted its second FDA application for the breakthrough product - DrAid™ CT Liver Cancer D&T to continue conquering this challenging market.
