VinBrain and VIKOMED establish strategic partnership to integrate AI into advanced medical devices

Hanoi, August 28, 2024 – As Vietnam's healthcare sector experiences significant advancements fueled by breakthrough AI-integrated software, VinBrain and VIKOMED, the only X-ray manufacturer in Vietnam, officially entered into a strategic partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This agreement marks a crucial beginning for the collaboration between a medical equipment manufacturer and an AI platform developer, particularly in the field of diagnostic imaging, to meet the growing demands of healthcare and save more lives through cutting-edge technology.

This partnership focuses on the integration of VinBrain’s advanced AI-powered software, the comprehensive DrAid™ platform, into Vikomed’s advanced medical devices, including wall-mounted and portable X-ray machines. Both parties will leverage their respective strengths to expand the distribution of AI-integrated devices across Vietnam's healthcare systems, thereby enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of medical diagnosis and treatment. The application of AI in clinical and paraclinical processes allows for optimized workflows, reduced operational costs, increased accuracy, and minimized human error, ultimately leading to more precise patient care.

Vikomed, the Vietnam-Korea Joint Venture in Medicine, specializes in the production and distribution of advanced medical equipment, including digital X-ray machines, C-Arms, medical solutions, comprehensive equipment maintenance services, and consultancy for building complete medical equipment systems. Vikomed is also the first company in Vietnam to own a high-tech digital medical equipment manufacturing facility. Up to now, Vikomed has supplied over 1,000 X-ray machines across Vietnam's healthcare system, including central and provincial hospitals in all 63 provinces and cities.

VinBrain, with its comprehensive AI solution DrAid™, has established itself as a leader in the application of AI in healthcare. DrAid™ can significantly support clinical diagnostic methods by processing various types of medical images, including X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs. The AI models automatically delineate and detect up to 95 types of abnormalities in under 30 seconds per case with over 90% sensitivity and accuracy. The DrAid™ platform has earned certifications such as ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485:2016, HIPAA compliance, and and FDA clearance (for DrAid™ Radiology V1).

VinBrain's platform utilizes AI to store, connect, filter, and standardize medical data repositories from various operating systems such as HIS, RIS, and PACS. The Data Lake infrastructure in DrAid™ enables multi-level data interconnection between departments or centers within a healthcare unit and between healthcare units. The Data Lake also connects upper and lower-level facilities, ensuring seamless and efficient medical care for patients regardless of their location.

As part of the signing ceremony, Vikomed organized a tour of their high-tech medical equipment manufacturing facility showroom. Vikomed is known as the first company in Vietnam to own such a production line. VIKOMED's products meet international standards, including ISO 13485:2016 certification and FDA approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
